As of midnight February 28th 2009, the Southern Adirondack Library System’s contract for downloadable e-books and audiobooks with NetLibrary will expire. When that contract expires, cardholders from SALS libraries, including the Ballston Spa Public Library, will no longer be able to download NetLibrary items.
A new service will begin in mid-late March, which will be called SALON (Southern Adirondack Library On-Demand) This will offer access to a selection of popular downloadable audio books, and will operate using a slightly different model from the current NetLibrary service. There will be a short period of time during which no downloadable audiobooks will be available.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but anticipate that the new service will have titles that appeal to a greater number of our customers.
You can display the requests you have made for materials, and suspend, reactivate, or cancel the requests, through the Patron Account Requests view. For each item, the requests view displays the format and title of the item, the pick-up library you designated, and the status of the request. You can also get more detailed information about each request. The following statuses are common listings:
: Active – Your request for the item is active and the pick-up library will receive the item when it is available.
: Inactive – A request for an item in the library system has an activation date in the future; for an interlibrary loan item, the library must review the request before it is sent.
: Pending – An item has been requested within the library system, and the request is active.
: Held – An interlibrary loan item is in the library and is set aside for you to check out. The library notifies you when it is available for pick-up. Ballston Spa holds items for up to 1 week. After that time, item(s) are shipped back. (After you check out an interlibrary loan item, the request is no longer displayed.)
: Not-Supplied – There are no items to fill a request that you placed in the library.
: Cancelled – The request has been cancelled.
: Unclaimed- The item was not picked up on time
The requests view may display a Hold Position column. The numbers in the Hold Position column indicate the status of your request compared to other patrons’ requests for the same item.
Note:
Certain libraries may have policies that override the hold position. An item may occasionally be used to fill a different request even if your request is the first in the hold request list for the item.
